Thanksgiving

We had a quiet Thanksgiving day with just Scott, Andrew, and I. (Bradley went to Ukiah with family friends.) A sweet old lady gave us a complete turkey dinner from Safeway that just needed to be reheated. We had a fairly late lunch, so I just figured the dinner would be easy to heat up and we would just eat at regular dinner time. We had seen the missionaries on Sunday and they said that they had a dinner appointment for Thanksgiving, but they couldnt really do anything that day, so they MIGHT MAYBE come by to visit. When I went to "heat" the already cooked turkey, I noticed that it was 12 pounds and in the oven it would take TWO hours to heat up. At about 6 or 6:30, everything was ready to eat and we hadnt seen or heard from the missionaries. Andrew called them up to see if they were coming....they said "yes, if you want us to" and he then asked them if they wanted to eat with us and they said "YES!" again. So we waited for them to come over. All 4 of them came. We found out during dinner that their 2:00 appointment wasnt very nice or happy or fun or even very tasty and when Andrew called they were just sitting at their apartment thinking it was the WORST Thanksgiving ever. They were very happy we called and they were very hungry and enjoyed the meal. Afterwards, they had fun visiting and even teaching what Scott calls a "dull lesson". Andrew had his nerf guns out from playing with them earlier in the week with Adam and Andrew Jones, so the whole evening Andrew and missionaries were shooting each other. Andrew enjoyed that the darts would stick to my sweater. The funniest thing that happened, though, was when one of the missionaries picked up a loaded WATER gun, thinking it was a nerf gun and shot his companion with a bunch of water! (Andrew had left it sitting on the fireplace earlier in the day.) We finished off the evening by watching "The Hunt", the video Richard made for Scott for Christmas one year. It's a tradition to show it to missionaries right before they go home and one of our Elders leaves soon. They left with big smiles on their faces and it was fun for us to have them.

Our old tv finally died after a VERY long life. We watch A LOT of tv, so it was used a lot, plus my dad owned it before we did, so it's been around for a long time. It sat right inside our door way and had a flat, large top, so it was where I put EVERYTHING when I came in the door or wanted a safe place---so things like my keys, sunglasses, camera, cell phone, mail, stuff like that...got put there daily. Now, we have a replacement TV and it is small and has not top space. I have no where to set things. I am sad. Where are my keys??????

burned lip

You cannot tell pain in this photo....but my upper lip got burned really bad the other day. I was making fudge for Thanksgiving (think I should have waited until Christmas?) and while making fudge on the stove top, you MUST stir CONSTANTLY or it WILL burn. While I was cooking it and stirring and holding the pot, some of the butter/sugar mixture spattered and landed on my lip. At first I tried to knock it off with my tongue, but I felt the sizzle of the HOT candy, so I swiped at it with my hand and it came off with a piece of my skin. I called to Andrew to bring me some ice, but he was slower than I'd have liked him to be. It blistered immediately. I kept ice on it for THREE hours. It has hurt for the past three days, but it's healing and almost better. Ouch, though!!!!

Nationals flash back

Melanee, doesn't this remind you of Nationals whenever it was time to eat, Matt would take everyone to the food court at the mall??? haha. (This is the Worchester Sharks team meal today on the road.) See, without Twitter, how would we know these things!

I thought I could just post the video here for everyone to watch, but I guess I cant, so if you want to go watch it, click on that link and hopefully it will take you to the video I wanted to share. If you cant see it, the funny parts are....one of the players in the "interviewer". He asks his teammates about their thanksgiving traditions. He asks the guy from Finland about Thanksgiving and he was shocked we eat turkey. He asked one of them if their mom was a good cook and the teammate said, "She's probably watching this so yes, yes, I love you mom." And he asked another what he was doing for thanksgiving and he said he was going over to the Pavelski's house, then the interviewer looked shocked and hurt like he wasn't invited also. Funny stuff. (And Melanee, if you watched the video, doesn't Jason Demers totally remind you of Crosby from Parenthood???!??!!!!!)

My FAVORITE thing about Twitter is reading the players interact with each other through Twitter. They sometimes make fun of each other, post unknowing pictures of each other, and other hilarious banter. I wouldn't say that Brent Burns is my FAVORITE Shark, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of his Twittering. Remember how cool it was when he first arrived in California he invited his twitter followers to join him on a bike ride??? Such a nice guy. He also is good at making fun of people including his mom and wife.

Here they made a banner of the Original 6 for the son's room. His caption was "look they are so proud, little do they know that one of them was not an "Original Six"...haha. And the wife twittered back that she trusted his mom because she's been around hockey so long.
