Baseball

Andrew had his second to last baseball game today.  Only 4 players from his team showed up, so they had to use a couple of players from the other team, which is never quite as fun.  I think Andrew is ready for some real baseball, with teammates who can catch and throw.  Only problem is that Little League baseball always coincides with flag football and soccer, he will have to choose, and he always chooses flag football and soccer.  He is the best hitter on his team right now and a couple of the kids have been playing Little League since kindergarten, so he's doing really well.  He understands where to throw the ball, where to stand, how the game works.  He can throw really far, he can catch.  Today, he caught a fly ball at 2nd base and tagged a runner out at second, but when he played 1st base, no one could catch the ball or throw it to him and when he played short stop the ball never got hit to him there either.  At bat today he hit a triple, a double, and two singles.  One of his singles was far enough out to be a double, but the runner in front of him was very slow going from 1st to 2nd and then he just stopped at 2nd base, so Andrew had to wait at 3rd.  Both his triple and his double were good, solid hits.  The other team's coaches were out in the field and it was really funny that after Andrew's 1st hit, the right field coach moved WAY back, all the way to where they stand in the outfield for adult softball.  That's respect, haha!  Baseball has been fun, I just wish Andrew's teammates would be more dedicated and come to all the games (and practices)....I guess that's why summer leagues seem to always fizzle, too many people go on vacations.
