Dinner

Dinner on a working cattle ranch is FILLING and delicious.  We had fun eating and socializing in the lodge with each other, the other family, and some of the staff.

But, it's what happened AFTER dinner that was the exciting thing of the day----  Scott has a hobby of gold panning.  He does it every chance he gets.  He's trying to make money doing it.  He is proud of all the gold he has found.  He keeps his gold in a little glass vial.  He brought it on the trip.  He showed it to whoever seemed interested.  It was in his pocket. He would take it out at places like Wal Mart and pretend to buy his purchases with it.  He loves that little vial of gold.  Did I mention that it is glass?  And if you hold it sideways, the glass magnifies the gold and you can see it bigger.  The vial is about 1/8th of the way full and he has weighed it before and think there is about $150 worth  of gold inside of it.

Scott hadn't yet showed it to Melanee.  After dinner she was standing holding Miles and he handed it to her.  She looked at it and while he was telling her all about it, Miles reached out and grabbed it....just as Scott said, "Dont let him throw it!" Miles chucked it across the room, into the wall, and the glass vial shattered and gold went everywhere.  Scott didnt freak out too bad, Melanee kept saying "Sorry", I pretty much laughed, but kept my chuckle to myself.  Scott, the workers, the other family, William, everyone knelt down in that corner of the room and did all they could to retrieve all the gold flakes.  Scott thinks he got most of it picked up.
